As this year´s The Lord Mayor´s Big Curry Lunch had to evolve due to the pandemic, Michael Hockney, MBE and Chairman of The Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch Committee, speaks about the inspiration behind the series of virtual events that ran this year in place of the lunch. Online events included cook-along and wine-tasting masterclasses plus well-known authors speaking about their books.
Michael also speaks about how proceeds from this year´s virtual lunch contribute towards helping 18 veterans attend the Pain Management Programme at King Edward VII Hospital. The residential programme, developed over two years and carefully tested, is specifically designed to help veterans who have been suffering pain and trauma to receive the correct assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. The aim is to assist veterans to boost their confidence and help them to find and sustain meaningful employment, which is the ‘backbone’ of their future wellbeing and impacts every other aspect of their personal lives and their families.
