Monte Carlo Rendez-vous 2024: Preparing for a soft landing
The key theme at this year’s Rendez-vous de September (RVS) in Monte Carlo was undoubtedly the end of the hard market. Whether you’re a cedant, reinsurer, or broker, there was broad agreement that, particularly for property cat exposures, flat renewals or even some rate softening can be expected—assuming the loss record for the year remains mild.
With reinsurer returns among the best ever seen and strong demand for reinsurance, investors are once again showing enthusiasm for the sector. In this healthy, competitive environment, some programmes may even see interesting offers on the table.
Our report this year ‘Monte Carlos RVS 2024: Preparing for a soft landing’ reviews the end of the hard market in more depth and looks at key topics of cyber, parametric, property cat and casualty.
We also take a look at the growing importance of data. Access to granular data for underwriters and an ability to present a real time overview of their portfolio exposures is now absolutely essential for the optimal renewal.
And finally, as ever with RVS the rumour mill was alive and well. The report looks at one or two topics which got attendees talking.
Content includes interviews and contributions from key industry players at Aon Reinsurance Solutions, Fitch, Guy Carpenter, Hannover Re, Lloyd’s, Munich Re, and Swiss Re.
