{"id":9273,"date":"2024-12-06T09:33:04","date_gmt":"2024-12-06T09:33:04","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2025-04-22T04:34:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T04:34:00","slug":"voi-podcast-with-ian-summers-and-aidan-o-neill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.advantagego.com\/en-us\/content\/voi-podcast-with-ian-summers-and-aidan-o-neill\/","title":{"rendered":"Speed and certainty: An evolution in claims management"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><iframe title=\"Sp Ep Ian Summers AdvantageGo &amp; Aidan O' Neill DOCOsoft: Higher Added Value &amp; Better Service\" allowtransparency=\"true\" height=\"150\" width=\"100%\" style=\"border: none; min-width: min(100%, 430px);height:150px;\" scrolling=\"no\" data-name=\"pb-iframe-player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.podbean.com\/player-v2\/?from=embed&amp;i=xdne3-175f63a-pb&amp;share=1&amp;download=1&amp;fonts=Tahoma&amp;skin=3267a3&amp;font-color=&amp;rtl=0&amp;logo_link=&amp;btn-skin=1b1b1b&amp;size=150\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aidan O\u2019Neill, CEO of DOCOsoft joined Ian Summers, global business leader, AdvantageGo, on a special episode of the Voice of Insurance podcast.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Claims management has been transformed in the Lloyd\u2019s insurance market since the Millennium, driven by digital transformation, although over the years \u2013 and different technology drives within Lloyd\u2019s \u2013 systems have taken time to evolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aidan O\u2019Neill, CEO of DOCOsoft, has been a pioneer in document management for claims among insurance carriers in the Lloyd\u2019s market, so he\u2019s able to speak authoritatively on not just the evolution of claims infrastructure, but what matters most to insurance clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe carriers want systems deployed quickly, but they want certainty as well,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some 27 carriers are now operating this DOCOsoft core claims management system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHalf the incoming claims messages that go into the London insurance market, go through DOCOsoft client,\u201d O\u2019Neill &nbsp;reveals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O\u2019Neill \u201chas the stripes\u201d of decades of London market experience to back his opinions. He began installing a document management system at Aegis 25 years ago, and was subsequently involved in the first electronic claims file (ECF) workflow at MAP Syndicate at Lloyd\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt that stage, there was no such thing as a claims management system in the market,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back then, the policy system would store the syndicate claims message (SCM), and the ECF represented an \u201cearly warning\u201d first notification of loss. But as O\u2019Neill notes, the financials were far from accurate, so that anyone who wanted to look at claims financials would look at the policy system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat we did was took the ECF message, linked it back to the SCM message, and ultimately evolved into the first enterprise claims management systems that exist today in the London insurance market,\u201d O\u2019Neill says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat original system has transformed into what are now the core enterprise claims management systems. Ultimately it looks like a claims dashboard. It links into your policy system. It links into your document management system, but from a user perspective, it\u2019s a dashboard,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The evolution continues as the Lloyd\u2019s market\u2019s digital transformation goes on, he explains, from the current DOCOsoft claims management system and the newest software as a service (SaaS) model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have been building out a new cloud-based system since 2020, to be in line with phase two of Blueprint Two. That\u2019s called DOCOsoft View, SaaS via the cloud,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advantagego.com\/en-us\/content\/advantagego-and-docosoft-announce-strategic-alliance\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.advantagego.com\/en-us\/content\/advantagego-and-docosoft-announce-strategic-alliance\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DOCOsoft became part of the AdvantageGo Ecosystem<\/a>, DOCOsoft\u2019s API and cloud-based system plugs into AdvantageGo\u2019s software, demonstrating just how joined up systems have become in the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connected through the expanding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advantagego.com\/en-us\/ecosystem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AdvantageGo Ecosystem<\/a>, the alliance is not only an integration play, but a virtuous circle between two platforms. For instance, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advantagego.com\/en-us\/products\/policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AdvantageGo\u2019s \u2018Subscribe\u2019 policy administration system<\/a> can provide data for DOCOsoft, and DOCOsoft\u2019s data can be fed into AdvantageGo\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advantagego.com\/en-us\/products\/underwriting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u2018Underwriting\u2019 workbench solution<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Ian Summers, Global Business Leader at AdvantageGo, the Ecosystem project is all about forging alliances with \u2018best of breed\u2019 partners, each of which owns their own insurtech niche, beyond the focus of AdvantageGo\u2019s own platforms, but which can plug into it, simplifying the relationship with carriers, who can choose to engage via AdvantageGo, and providing clients with options for which niche solutions they want to integrate, and in-so-doing, providing a tailored solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou can hear how complicated it is to have specialists in each area,\u201d he says, providing an update report on the ecosystem\u2019s progress in onboarding more such specialist partners \u2013 with artificial intelligence (AI) led capabilities one common factor between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since then [DOCOsoft joined the ecosystem], we&#8217;ve had five new partners come on board,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first of these is Insurants, which is an AI-led data processing system. The second is Ping, an AI-led data ingestion, data cleansing and geocoding. FortifyData and Relativity6 are the third and fourth partners he lists, cyber-specific data providers, for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advantagego.com\/en-us\/lines-of-business\/cyber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cyber tailored iteration of AdvantageGo\u2019s Underwriting Workbench<\/a> flagship platform. The last one on Summers\u2019 list is Expleo, announced in June, a digital transformation testing specialist. <em>[Note: CyberCube and Swiss Re have also joined the AdvantageGo Ecosystem since the recording of this podcast]<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O\u2019Neill explains the appeal of the Ecosystem from DOCOsoft\u2019s clients\u2019 perspective, starting with that desire for speed as well as certainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDOCOsoft\u2019s competition is not a third party vendor, it\u2019s actually the in-house systems companies have developed, trying to build it themselves,\u201d he says. \u201cBut there\u2019s a cost challenge and a time challenge to that; they don\u2019t know when it\u2019ll be finished and there\u2019s no certainty they can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ecosystems are a more efficient way to deliver, he suggests, core to delivering what clients want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe see carriers in industry looking for Ecosystems, where things are pre-built, already integrated, and it&#8217;s like Lego blocks. We have more than 20 modules within our own system that companies can choose to adopt, and the Ecosystem is like an extension of that, except the Lego blocks are external, third party companies,\u201d O\u2019Neill says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat&#8217;s the joy of an ecosystem that you can pick and choose which sanctions model, data ingestion model, core PAS model, and claims module you want to use. Ultimately, the ecosystem works because it gives the client certainty that the stuff works it\u2019s integrated and you can try it out,\u201d he continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Underlying this, the challenge is really about data flowing through these systems, which is ultimately what drives more effective management and decision-making within teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O\u2019Neill adds: \u201cImagine that you&#8217;re demonstrating to a carrier with their own data, which goes through, comes in on the PAS, it shows claims coming in, with some AI processing \u2013 it makes the demonstration far more powerful, and gives certainty that the thing will bloody work!\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aidan O\u2019Neill, CEO of DOCOsoft joined Ian Summers, global business leader, AdvantageGo, on a special episode of the Voice of Insurance podcast.
